Continuous Dilute Acid Delinting
The Continuous Dilute Acid System is similar to the MLK Batch System in that the acidizing solution consists of a precise mixture of sulfuric acid diluted with water added as a vehicle for coverage. A small amount of surfactant is added to the solution to break the surface tension and aid in coverage. Only enough acid mix solution is applied which reduces wasteful by-products and increases production rates.
The Continuous System is suited for higher production rates as the seed is processed completely in each machine. This is accomplished through the unique design of each unit with adequate retention time and a gentle cascading, tumbling action as the chief factors.
The acid mix solution is applied to the fuzzy seed in a stainless steel reactor chamber. The Reactor is sized and adjusted to meet the desired production rate. Once the seed is completely coated it is conveyed into the Dryer.
The Dryer rotation speed, angle of inclination, and interior baffle design gently tumbles and dries the moisture from the seed. The seed is then conveyed into the Buffer to remove the dry acidizing lint from the seed.
The Buffer rotation speed, angle of inclination, and unique interior baffle design gently scrubs the lint from the seed and allows a portion of the lint to be removed in the airflow. The retention time in both drums is critical. The delinted seed exits the buffer and is ready for the cleaning and conditioning equipment.
